Hearing impaired
I was not able to take the DMV written and riding test due to being hearing impaired. I just couldn’t hear the microphone attached to my shirt, so I needed to find an alternative way to obtain my motorcycle endorsement. The Heart of Oklahoma Motorcycle Safety Course (HOOMSC) is in Norman, OK is where I decided to attend. I signed up for and then took the two-day course on the 10th-11th September. Even though I’ve been riding most of my adult life, I still learned a lot of safety related things that helped me ride safer. I had an interpreter with me the two days of my class and Mr. Kurt Rice was my riding coach. His patience, and calm demeanor was extremely helpful, and he gave me confidence that I didn’t think I had. He took extra time to make sure I understood each exercise we had to perform. Mr. Rice is a cool character and has plenty of stories to tell of his motorcycle adventures. He gave me timely tips and I am so very appreciative of his willingness to share. HOOMSC is top notch and if you want some serious training – sign up for one of these classes. They will do you right!
Train to skill, understanding and mastery
Bobby,
I want to thank you, Kurt and Angie for the opportunity to attend a class on 17-18 July 2024. This Basic Riders Course you all taught made me realize I didn’t know, or I was never taught when I started out riding when I was 14/15 years of age. I had to reset my thinking and have a trainable mind and listen take note and ask questions to make sure I didn’t miss any details. What I was impressed with was if a rider had a problem with a certain riding task, the coaches were kindhearted and gave one on one coaching. I am definitely using these techniques to hone what I learned. Outstanding instructions. Easy to understand. They train to skill, understanding and mastery.
I trust you with my children
When I attended the Heart of Oklahoma Motorcycle Safety Class in 2019 and met the owner/operator Bobby Williams, I found his teaching techniques to be incredibly kind, patient, and down to earth. He explained everything clearly and took the time to ensure I understood what was required and showed me that I had the skill and confidence within to compete this course.
Learning with HOOMSC was not only educational but also enjoyable. Despite the hour and a half drive, attending this class was well worth the time, effort and money. When my son asked to learn how to ride in 2021, I made sure I signed him up in the first available class. After earning my motorcycle endorsement, I trust HOOMSC with the safety of teaching my child just as they taught me, and, as expected, HOOMSC did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised when my son outperformed me on both tests (written and riding) – of course, this was a proud “mom moment.”
Fast forward to 2024, my fourteen-year-old daughter just graduated from HOOMSC, and I am just so very proud of her accomplishments and once again, grateful to have a trustworthy business. Whenever someone asks where I recommend taking a motorcycle safety course, I will always suggest HOOMSC Safety Course at rideok.org. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you so much, Bobby, for teaching me and my children. We are forever grateful to you!
Deer Ran Out In Front Of Me….
“….was riding by Lake Draper and a deer ran out in front of me. Luckily, I’ve been practicing what you all taught us and was able to brake quickly and safely.”
Saved My Life
“…I just thought you would like to know that one of the maneuvers you taught me saved my life. Not to mention everything else you taught us has kept me from looking dumb in traffic, I just want to say THANK YOU.
I was making a left hand turn on a busy street, so I was a little nervous. As I went to make the turn, I missed the friction zone and applied too much throttle and the next thing I knew my shoulder was inches from the ground. Out of pure muscle memory, I pulled in the clutch, released the throttle and didn’t hit the brake – just allowed the tire to use the remaining momentum to pull itself up. I would have never known how to save myself without this class.”
